Fuji music deserves the awards and recognition. Tourism, the hospitality industry,
entertainment and all other businesses should see the effect both nationally and
internationally. The organising committee comprises of the public, people from various
areas of endeavour. And apart from the artists, those working to see the upliftment of fuji
music will be recognised as well. That is why we should be making them more
international. And this has taken so long...
African music and culture have remained not just that rich source of enjoyment for the
whole world all this while, it has also offered opportunities for svarious studies and
achievements claimed to be, or have been created by foreign knowledge. This can be
attributed to our lack of comprehensive record keeping and documentation. Fela was
just another entity almost taken in parts, but thank God Fela is now an institution as far
as the west is concerned. They took part of his works as it normally is in the west, but it
always found its way back to the source. That explains the effect when immediate
recognition of all or a part of something automatically takes it to the top. Fela's musical
came out on Broadway and topped at once. And the best thing about fuji music is that it
went on and got everything back into one pot. That is why we need to do more to
promote it.
There have been kings, Otunbas, Aares and all. Sometimes it becomes harder to climb
the ladder of their achievements further once they have already become kings. Fuji
musicians, like other musicians and artists in Nigeria as well as all over the world are
hardworking talented people and they deserve recognition for their roles in
entertainment in our society. Something worthy, makes the worthy sacrifice for some
other things worthy. This awards will showcase the recognition of excellence. Pioneering
figures will be appreciated, good works will be appreciated, revolutionary moves will be
appreciated, when kings do well in their respective businesses they are duly awarded.
There will be carnivals, there will be charity marathons and football tournaments, there
will be dinners. It is simply going to be grand. We shall be witnesses to our Fuji artists
walking along the Alley of the Legends where their names will be written in the stars, and
they can leave their prints on the sands of time.
We have hundreds of them and everybody is sure to like some more if the publicity
surrounding fuji music had gone round like that supporting other genre. One of the
reasons why we need to reshape how things work. There are managers and PR
personnel in most of their organisations, but most of them actually do less, or have no
idea about the magnitude of their positions. With the much deserved recognition, the
good works of top artists are well appreciated and their activities and healthy rivalry
creates the much needed space for the motivational growth of upcoming musicians and
talents.
